How to do your own Century of Story

Discover your connection and find out what your story is:

Step 1

Visit the team at a Drop-In Session

Step 2

Attend a History Cafe

Step 3

Taster Sessions- the project team will recommend a taster session tailored to help you complete your story. These will begin in November 2014 and could include visits to Record Office, digital media or web courses.

Step 4

Complete your story by writing a narrative, creating a video, posting a blog, writing a poem, doing a performance, painting an artwork or any other way that inspires you.

Step 5

Share your connection with your community and the people of Leicestershire.

How to share your story

Once your story is complete we would like you to share it with as many people as possible. There are various ways that you can do this depending on your story. There are a lot of websites that have been developed specifically for the purpose of collecting personal stories surrounding WWI.

Throughout the life of the project there will also be the opportunity for participants to meet up and share their experiences through our Sharing Days.

Sharing your story will be one of the topics you can learn about at a History Café. However, if you have any questions along the way please feel free to contact the Project Team.

Social Media
There are many social media sites where you can share your story. For example, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, Google+ and Vine.
