Moira Canals Project
From January – March 2016, Century of Stories worked with year 4 of Moira Primary School on an exciting project.
The children researched a day in the life of a canal boat family during WW1 and worked in partnership with volunteer Wendy Freer, of Pudding Bag Productions.
They not only researched and performed their stories but helped with the filming too. Whilst taking part in this project, the children qualified for the nationally accredited “Explore” Arts Award. The project culminated in a class trip to Moira Furnace Museum where they experienced lots of exciting activities including a canal barge trip and it was at the museum where the children made their film. The film was launched at an assembly for the proud parents and children on 8th March and is now view-able below! If you would like to share or discover your connection to WW1, please contact the team.
